Austrian Economics Research Conference
March 20-22, 2014
Auburn, AL USA
The Austrian Economics Research Conference is the international, interdisciplinary meeting of the Austrian School, bringing together leading scholars doing research in this vibrant and influential intellectual tradition. The conference is hosted by the Mises Institute at its campus in Auburn, Alabama.
2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences to F. A. Hayek and Gunnar Myrdal. It is also the 40th anniversary of The Austrian Economics Conference at South Royalton, Vermont. These two events are widely believed to have marked the revival of modern Austrian economics. We will celebrate both events with papers and panels at AERC 2014. Most of the participants at South Royalton went on to academic careers, and a number of them will participate in this conference.
Proposals for individual papers, complete paper sessions or symposia, and interactive workshops are encouraged. Papers should be well developed, but at a stage where they can still benefit from the group’s discussion. Preference will be given to recent papers that have not been presented at major conferences. All topics related to Austrian economics, broadly conceived, and related social-science and business disciplines such as management, entrepreneurship, and finance are appropriate for the conference. Proposals from junior faculty and PhD students are especially encouraged.
This year’s conference features a keynote lecture from Ed Dolan, organizer of the South Royalton conference and editor of The Foundations of Modern Austrian Economics (1976). Other keynote speakers include J. Huston McCulloch, Hans-Hermann Hoppe, and Andrew P. Napolitano.
The conference is directed by Joseph Salerno, Professor of Economics at Pace University and Academic Vice President of the Mises Institute. All proposals are peer reviewed by a program committee. To submit a proposal, send your information to firstname.lastname@example.org. Proposals are due by December 31, 2013, and decisions will be communicated by January 31, 2014.
